I used my Turkish tea maker with Chinese oolong tea for the first time this morning. I let the tea brew for a full 20 minutes and then mixed it half and half with hot water before I drank it. I like my tea as strong as possible so others can use less than half of the fully brewed tea with the hot water.
I’ve tried it now over the last 6 months using a variety of teas. The only types I didn’t care for using this process were the herbal or fruit teas because they tend to get bitter if brewed for more than 3 or 4 minutes.
An exception would be for hibiscus or South African honey bush “teas”. They turned out rather well.
I do, sometimes, add five or six cardamon pods to the kettle while the tea brews. I never saw that in Turkey, but is some Middle Eastern countries, I’ve read it’s not uncommon.
