You push the button, turn the dial, and... nothing happens. No lights, no beep, just a dark screen. Before you assume your Luna is broken, there are a few common culprits that mimic a "dead" kettle but are actually easy fixes.

Here is a step-by-step checklist to diagnose the issue.

Method 1: The "Wake Up" Check

The Luna Electric Kettle Pro has an aggressive energy-saving mode.

1. Press the dial firmly.

  • The Issue: If the screen is black, the kettle is likely just in "Sleep Mode," not broken.
  • The Fix: Press the main dial button once. If the kettle is powered, the screen should light up immediately showing the current water temperature. Turning the dial alone sometimes doesn't wake it up—you must press it.

Method 2: Check Your Power Source

Kitchen outlets are notorious for tripping, especially if you have a toaster, microwave, and kettle running at the same time.

1. Check the GFCI button.

  • Look at the wall outlet your kettle is plugged into. Does it have "Test" and "Reset" buttons?
  • If the small button has popped out, the outlet has tripped. Push "Reset" back in until it clicks.

2. The "Toaster Test."

  • Unplug the kettle and plug a different appliance (like a toaster or phone charger) into that same socket.
  • If the toaster doesn't work: The problem is your outlet, not the kettle. Check your home’s circuit breaker.
  • If the toaster works: The outlet is fine, and the issue is with the kettle base.

Method 3: Clean the Contact Points

The base transmits power to the kettle through metal concentric rings. If these get dirty, the power cuts out.

1. Unplug the base.

Safety first—never clean the base while it is plugged into the wall.

2. Inspect the "Strix" controller.

  • Look at the center of the base (the circular connector).
  • Look at the bottom of the kettle itself.
  • What to look for: Crumbs, dust, a spilled drop of dried coffee, or even a small piece of plastic wrapper.

3. Wipe it down.

Use a dry cloth to firmly wipe the metal contacts on both the base and the kettle. Even a thin film of oil or dust can insulate the connection and prevent the kettle from turning on.

Method 4: The "Wiggle" Test

Sometimes the pins inside the base need to be reseated.

1. Plug the base back in.

2. Place the kettle on the base.

3. Rotate and press.

Gently press the kettle down and rotate it 360 degrees. Watch the screen closely.

  • If the screen flickers on and off: You likely have a loose internal contact. This is a warranty issue.
  • If it stays dead: The base fuse may have blown.

When to Call Support

If you have verified the outlet works, cleaned the contacts, and the screen is still completely black, the internal fuse or power supply in the base has likely failed.

Next Step: Locate your order number. Since the base is a separate component, SAKI support can often replace just the base rather than the entire unit.
