We know how convenient it is to toss everything into the dishwasher at the end of the day. However, when it comes to the lid of your Luna Electric Kettle Pro, you should avoid the dishwasher.

The short answer is: No. Please hand wash only.

Here is why keeping the lid out of the dishwasher is crucial for the longevity of your kettle.

Reason 1: Protecting the Silicone Seal

The Luna lid features a specialized silicone ring that ensures a tight, steam-proof seal when you close the kettle.

  • The Risk: The high heat of a dishwasher cycle (especially the drying cycle) can cause this silicone to warp, shrink, or become brittle over time.
  • The Result: If the seal fails, steam can escape during boiling, which might burn your hand or prevent the kettle’s sensors from detecting when the water has reached boiling point.

Reason 2: Harsh Detergents

Dishwasher tablets are highly abrasive and often contain strong chemicals designed to blast away lasagna from casserole dishes.

  • The Risk: These chemicals are too harsh for the polished stainless steel and the food-grade plastic components of the lid mechanism.
  • The Result: The finish may become dull, cloudy, or scratched.

How to Clean the Lid Properly (The Right Way)

Cleaning the lid takes less than a minute and ensures it stays in perfect condition.

1. Remove the lid.

Pull the lid off the kettle body (if your model has a fully detachable lid).

2. Wash with warm, soapy water.

Use a soft sponge and a mild dish soap. gently wipe the stainless steel underside and the top handle.

3. Check the seal.

While washing, run your finger along the silicone ring to ensure no scale or dust is trapped there.

4. Rinse and Dry.

Rinse away the suds and dry it immediately with a soft cloth to prevent water spots.
