Using the Base Menu, Step by Step
1 Power On 0:13
Press the power button on the left side of the base. The screen opens on the Presets menu by default, the main screen for everyday brewing.
2 Learn the Controls 0:32
Press the menu button to see the options, turn the dial to move through them, and press the menu button again to select one. When you’re done, scroll to Exit to return to the brewing screen.
3 Choose a Preset 0:52
A preset heats the water to the right temperature for a specific drink, so there’s nothing to set manually. Green Tea and White Tea use gentler temperatures for delicate leaves, Oolong holds a mid-range, French Press heats to just below boiling around 200°F, Boil / Black Tea brings water to a full 212°F boil, and Baby Formula keeps water warm for mixing. Prefer your own number? Choose Custom and adjust it manually.
4 Set the Sound 1:41
Sound controls the feedback tones the base plays when you press a button or make a selection. Open Sound, turn the dial to raise or lower the volume (lower it to zero to turn tones off completely), then press the menu button to confirm.
5 Pick Your Units and Language 1:58
Open Units and turn the dial to choose Celsius or Fahrenheit; press the menu button to confirm, and every screen shows that unit. Then open Language and pick English, French, or Spanish. The display changes as soon as you select.
6 Calibrate for Altitude 2:35
At higher altitudes water boils at a lower temperature, which can affect how it heats. Open Altitude, turn the dial to set the value for your area, and press the menu button to confirm. Your kettle will heat correctly for your location.
7 Set a Temperature Hold 2:55
Hold keeps the water at a set temperature after heating, so you don’t need to reheat. Open Hold and choose 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes, then press the menu button to confirm. The hold turns off automatically when time is up. Reheat the water to start a fresh hold cycle if you’d like it warm for longer.
8 Exit and Save 3:36
When you’ve finished adjusting your settings, turn the dial to Exit and press the menu button to leave. Your settings are saved.
