To keep your SAKI Turkish Tea Maker Pro performing at its best and ensure your tea always tastes fresh, it is important to remove mineral buildup (limescale) from the stainless steel base. Depending on your water hardness, we recommend doing this every 4 to 8 weeks.
The Natural Descaling Method (Vinegar)
This is the most effective way to break down calcium deposits without using harsh chemicals.
- Fill: Pour a mixture of 1 part white vinegar and 3 parts fresh water into the bottom kettle (up to about the halfway mark).
- Boil: Use the dial to select a high-temperature setting (like the Anatolian Brew preset) and bring the solution to a boil.
- Soak: Once it reaches temperature, turn the unit off and let it sit for 30 to 60 minutes. This gives the acid time to dissolve the stubborn minerals.
- Rinse: Discard the mixture. Fill the kettle with plain water and boil it once more to remove any lingering vinegar scent. Rinse thoroughly.
The Rapid Method (Citric Acid)
If you prefer not to use vinegar, citric acid powder is a great alternative.
- Boil Water: Fill the kettle with water and bring it to a boil.
- Add Powder: Once boiled, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of food-grade citric acid powder to the water.
- Wait: Let it sit for 15 minutes. You will see the mineral spots disappear almost instantly.
- Rinse: Empty the kettle and rinse it out with cold water.
Important Maintenance Tips
- Avoid Abrasives: Never use steel wool or abrasive scouring pads on the inside of the kettle, as this can scratch the stainless steel and make it easier for minerals to stick in the future.
- The Exterior: Only wipe the exterior and the "Smart Base" with a soft, damp cloth. Never submerge the bottom kettle or the power base in water.
- Filter Cleaning: Don't forget to rinse the Magnetic Infuser under warm water after every use to prevent tea oils from building up.
Why Descale?
Regular descaling doesn't just make the kettle look better; it ensures the temperature sensors remain accurate and prevents the heating element from working harder than it needs to, which extends the life of your device.
