Standard Boil vs. Hold Mode: Which One Should You Use?

Your Luna Electric Kettle Pro isn't just a water heater; it’s a smart assistant. Depending on your morning routine, you might want a quick boil or a steady supply of hot water. Here is the breakdown of the two modes and how to use them.

Mode 1: Standard Boil (The "One-and-Done")

This is the default setting. It is designed for speed and efficiency when you need hot water right now.

How it works:

  1. Select your temperature (e.g., 212°F).
  2. Press the start button.
  3. Result: The kettle heats the water to exactly 212°F, beeps to let you know it's ready, and then immediately shuts off the heating element.

When to use it:Single Servings: You are making just one cup of noodles or tea. • Immediate Use: You are pouring the water into a French Press immediately. • Energy Saving: You don't want the kettle to consume electricity after the water is hot.

Mode 2: Hold Mode (The "Set-It-and-Forget-It")

Also known as the "Keep Warm" feature, this mode turns your kettle into a thermal reservoir. It is perfect for busy mornings or social gatherings.

How it works:

  1. Select your temperature.
  2. Press the "HOLD" or "KEEP WARM" button on the base (usually located next to the dial). A small icon (often a coffee cup or steam symbol) will appear on the screen.
  3. Press Start.
  4. Result: The kettle heats the water to the target. Once it reaches temperature, it stays there. The Luna will gently cycle the heat on and off to maintain that exact degree for up to 60 minutes.1

When to use it:The "Second Cup" Drinker: You want your second cup of coffee to be just as hot as the first without waiting for a re-boil. • Distracted Mornings: You start the kettle, go to take a shower, and want the water ready when you get out. • Hosting: You have guests and need hot water available for multiple rounds of tea.

Pro Tip: Safety First! The Luna has a built-in safety feature called "Boil Dry Protection."2 Even in Hold Mode, if you use up all the water, the kettle will sense that it is empty and shut off completely to prevent damage.
