Is a quiche and a frittata the same?

No, they are not the same even though both dishes are egg-based and have other similar ingredients. Quiche is cooked over a pie crust while frittata is crustless. Frittata is an Italian dish made from beaten egg, enriched with some ingredients such as meats, cheeses, and vegetables, and flavored with spices. Frittata is very similar to the omelet of French cuisine in terms of the ingredients but it is thicker than omelet, usually made for more than one person, and eaten by slicing whereas omelet is usually made thin, cooked for one person, and served folded.

Egg is such a versatile food that you can have completely different tastes and textures even without adding any additional ingredients but only by changing the cooking method. Egg also contains all basic nutritional needs, and it is very healthy to eat eggs especially at breakfast. The air fryer frittata recipe below is enriched with pepper, green onion, basil, spinach, and feta cheese so its nutritional value and filling characteristic is very high and it amazingly tastes delicious.

  • Olive oil spray

  • 12 eggs

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • 1 cup chopped roasted red bell peppers (homemade or jarred)

  • 1/3 cup chopped fresh green onions

  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh basil

  • 1 cup chopped baby spinach

  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese


  1. Preheat the air fryer by setting the temperature to 350°F and the timer to 3 minutes. Once you press the “Start/Pause” button, it will start warming up.

  2. Lightly grease an 8-inch round rimmed baking tray with olive oil spray and set aside.

  3. Crack eggs into a bowl, add salt and black pepper, and whisk them well.

  4. Add bell peppers, green onions, basil, spinach, and half of feta cheese, and mix.

  5. Pour the egg mixture into the baking tray, and spread feta cheese on top.

  6. Open the air fryer, put the tray inside, and close it.
